Known as the Pearl of Africa, Uganda’s many tribes comprise much of its population, and
the country is known for its warmth and hospitality. It is home to the largest freshwater lake
in Africa and it hosts the largest number of primates on the continent too, with the highest
number of mountain gorillas worldwide. On the edge of the landscaped Harare Gardens,
the National Gallery of Zimbabwe—located in the country’s capital—also hosts a large
collection of African contemporary art and traditional pieces like baskets, textiles, jewelry
and musical instruments.
